Date Line: Tuesday May 13, 2008, Holyhead, Wales, the AP News Service reported that a man dressed as "Darth Vader" who attacked the founder of Great Britian's Jedi Church was given a suspended sentence.
Arwel Wynne Hughes, dressed in black with a black plastic garbage bag as a cape, assulted Jedi church founder Barney Jones, aka Master Jonba Hehol, with a metal crutch on March 25, 2008. Mr. Hughes also "whacked" (the AP's word, not mine) Jones' cousin, Michael Jones , aka Master Mormi Hehol, in the original attack. Mr. Hughes, aka "Drunk" Vader, had consumed the better part of a 10 liter box of wine prior to the attack.
District Judge Andrew Shaw sentenced Mr. Hughes to 2 months in jail; but he suspended the sentence for one year (or until "Star Wars 7, The Attack of the Clowns" is released, my words not the judge's). Mr. Hughes was alos ordered to pay $507.00 in fines.
The article also noted that in the 2001 United Kingdom census, 390,000 people (0.7 percent of the population) listed Jedi as their religion.
Is it just me, or does anyone else feel that "all the world's crazy but me and thee, and even thee is alittle crazy"? I mean, frankly, I thought Darth Vader had more taste than to drink "wine in a box". And where was Vader's light saber? I am going to contact Luke Skywalker this afternoon and ask him about this.
